In-Class Kiteboarding Theory

The snowkiting season is over in Ontario and we can proudly say that it was a great time for all of us! During the months of January and February we have met a lot of positive people which became not only students, but also kiting buddies of iKiteCanada Club. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Right now, we would like to offer everyone who missed the fun a chance to learn how to kiteboard. We are holding an in-class kiteboarding theory lesson at the price of only $99 for a 1.5 hour session. This is a great opportunity to learn the concepts of kiteboarding, wind theory and emergency situation response so that you can ace that kite when the water season hits!

Kiteboarding Gear

What to wear, when and where?

We recommend you from personal experience!

Body wear.

Wetsuit is used in kitesurfing as body warmer. An NPX 5/4/3 is a great wetsuit to use when air temperatures are +7c+ during spring, fall and cooler summer days. 3mm gloves and hood as well as 6-7mm boots. There are also several breathable Dry-Suits on the market. During summer we can use any 2mm short wetsuit and also can be used over top of 5mm if cold. Kite, harness, bar/lines, board, helmet and PFD. Feel free to comment.

The event will take place on Saturday, February 25 (17-21kts wind). Registration for snowkiting race is required. Please, register at the spot of the event.

There will be 2 flags set up on each side of Cook’s bay to go around them.

Kiters will split up into groups of 5-7 people. There will be time laps of 10 minutes between each group to avoid traffic and accidents. Advanced groups will have to complete 3 laps and beginners 2 laps around flags. The distance is 5 km per lap, which makes 15 km for advanced and 10 km for beginners.
We will award 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in advanced level and 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in beginner level races. Just remember everyone is a winner!

The goal is to get 50 kiters to participate. It is going to be a lot of FUN!!!

Friends and family can also participate by cheering for the racers in a form of loud “Woohhooos” and “Go Go Gos”.

A table with snacks and BBQ will be set up at the Strat/Finish point for everyone. This will be a great social event where you can make new friends and enjoy a beautiful day in the fresh air.

A little non-profit fee of $10 will be used towards snacks, BBQ and trophies for winners. The first place winner will get a special gift from iKite.ca.

Videos and pictures will be posted on our main website which you already know – iKite.ca.
Will also try to get local vendor for kite demo where you can try different kite brands before shopping for one.

Lets go kiting!!!

P.S.: Please reply to info@ikite.ca ASAP for a registration.
